Do Preserved Flowers Need Water?
It’s common knowledge that to look after your fresh flowers and make them last longer you need to water them. However, what about preserved flowers?
We’ve put together a guide of best practices on how to look after your preserved flowers.
How Often Do You Need to Water Your Preserved Flower?
The truth is, you don’t. Watering your preserved flowers can damage them. We know it’s the first rule that you learn when trying to keep a plant alive but, due to the coating that is used to preserve the flower, no water is necessary.
How To Look After Your Preserved Flowers?
Placement
As well as not watering your preserved flower, the placement of the flower is also important. You want to keep your flower in a place where average humidity is anything between 30% to 80%.
Anything higher may cause the colour to begin leaking, staining or similar colour damage.
Light Exposure
Similarly, we also recommend keeping it away from direct sunlight. Like humidity, direct sunlight can affect its colouring by diluting it over prolonged exposure.
Dusty
Now, this may seem odd but trust us. Lightly use a blow dryer, or duster to gently dust your flower. This will help to keep the flowers looking and feeling fresh.
Delicate Handling
Although they are preserved, it doesn’t mean they are any more robust. They may last longer but they are still real flowers. Handling your blooms with care will help them last longer. This includes holding them by their stem rather than the head of the flower.
Try not to bend or squash the petals too! This will help them look as fresh as possible and ultimately means you can enjoy your favourite bouquet for longer.
